Dr. Kay L. Colley is an assistant professor of mass communication at Texas Wesleyan University.  She began as a full-time professor at Texas Wesleyan in Fall 2008. She has taught public relations and journalism at the University of Texas at Arlington, UNT Health Science Center, the University of North Texas, Texas A&M University, Blinn College and Baylor University.

 

Dr. Colley holds an associate of arts degree in journalism from Blinn College, a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Texas A&M University, a master's of international journalism degree from Baylor University and a doctor of philosphy degree in higher education from the University of North Texas. Her research interests include mass communication education, the use of social media in public relations and diversity issues in the mass media.

 

A journalist by training, Dr. Colley has served as a newspaper reporter and editor as well as an editor for magazines and online publications. She has also sold advertising, worked at a television station in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and served as a spokeswoman for a health science center. Public relations projects that she produced received top awards from the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005.
